Creating the Blue Hydrangeas
Lauren Pearce from the beautiful Brisbane-based build and design studio, Rylo Co, contacted me just as I was heading to work in Italy for one month. We had worked together on several floral pieces for other clients, and Lauren was especially inspired by hydrangeas. I was excited - there were hydrangeas blooming in terracotta pots near our house in Italy and I was keen to make something that reflected the colours of the Italian Spring. I found everything I needed at the local art store in Belluno (I found some great new pigments and brushes) and got started.
Here is a video of me painting on a beautiful blue-sky Italian day.
Lauren's client now has a beautiful piece that was created entirely in Italy, especially for her space.
